Starkey is one of our top hearing aid brands, and we recommend their innovative and stylish designs to many of our clients. For the ultimate in connectivity, Starkey’s Made For iPhone Halo 2 is always a favorite, and seamlessly connects you to all your Apple devices without you even having to lift a finger. We’re excited to share that their excellent design has recently be recognized by two of the top awards for their excellence in hearing aid technology.
Starkey is thrilled to announce their groundbreaking Halo 2 hearing device has been officially named a finalist for the prestigious design award, the SXSW Interactive Innovation Award for the best in Wearable Tech. Not only that, but Starkey’s Halo 2 is the only hearing aid to be recognized at this year’s SXSW awards. This award recognizes the best in revolutionary technology in connectivity.
Starkey was nominated for both its advances in hearing device technology as well as the positive user benefits reported by everyone with a Starkey device. In fact, Simon Carlile, Starkey Hearing Technologies Senior Director of Research, is thrilled with the positive impact the Made For iPhone connectivity is having in people’s everyday lives.
With such advanced hearing aids that allow hearing aid wearers the same connectivity as everyone else, there’s less stigma around treating hearing loss. “Our collaboration with faculty at the University of Toronto,” says Carlile, “revealed that integration of Halo 2 with mobile technology has a normalizing effect for patients, and we are confident that this technology will continue to help in eliminating the stigma hearing aids have normally had.”
The second award that’s named Starkey a finalist is the Edison Award, in the category of Health and Wellness. The Edison Awards are internationally known, and are named after Thomas Edison, a man who was nothing if not creative and inventive.
The Edison Award nominates only the best products in global innovation, ingenuity, and imagination in helping people maintain their health, and technology must meet stringent criteria to qualify. The Halo 2 hearing aid combines advanced technology with an easy to use interface, and the best in mobile technology, so hearing aid wearers can live an active lifestyle and stay healthy without thinking about their hearing.
Starkey’s Halo 2 has been making waves since its release in March 2016. It’s been recognized by a host of other organizations for innovation, design, and functionality. Last year, Halo 2 received a Best Design Award, and Inc. magazine named it one of the “7 Most Brilliant Product Designs of 2016.” It earned a Gold Product Design Award at the 2016 Spark Awards, as well as a finalist spot at the 2016 MN Tekne Awards. Wait, there’s more! Halo 2 was also awarded the Technical Innovation of the Year award at the American Business Awards last year.
Besides the best in connectivity, Halo 2 features some other pretty amazing programs and settings. Starkey unveiled a quad-core twin compressor operating system with Halo 2, allowing faster processing without compromising power or battery use. Speech is clear in any listening environment with advanced feedback suppression, background noise reduction technology, and speech focus. Finally, if you love listening to music and have been missing the pure tones of balanced songs, Halo 2 changes everything. With advanced algorithms that carefully balance both loud and soft sounds, you’ll be able to hear all the subtle sounds in the music you love.
Halo 2 was released last year in several styles, but in January 2017 launched a new style, a nearly invisible receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aid that gives you even more options for the ultimate in connectivity and discretion.
Halo 2 connects to your phone, so it’s no surprise that it is controlled easily with the touch of a finger. You’ll never need to fiddle with your hearing aid to switch between programs, or fumble to try to change the volume. Simply open the TruLink Hearing Control app and experience hassle free hearing.
